Sorry to report bad news, the runway re-seal project is back on hold at this time.
After meeting with the paving contractor and the city engineer, myself and three other club members found the materials to be used not acceptable for our use. The gravel material was not fine enough, it contained 3/8 in pea size stones. This mixture would have resulted in a surface "rouhger" than current conditions. The city engineer did not want to "back" rolling the new surface, and the contractor could not provide finer material.
The contractor had just completed re-seal projects in the River West area, and review of this work displayed rougher conditions than our current surfaces.
At this time several club members are checking with local paving contractors to find out what our options are.
If there is someone with expertise on this subject, or any suggestions please let us know.
